The Lord Will Send You A Jonathan

Delivered by Dr. Kayode Fanilola (Throne Of Grace Ministries), June 6, 2007.

TEXT: The soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. (I Sam. 18:1)

There are certain times in our life that we are confronted by one giant or the other. The giant may take the form of a household enemy. This giant may take the form of a boss who is hell bent on getting you fired. It may be a set up or a gang up to kill you. Your own giant may take the form of what your doctor calls terminal disease or a hopeless medical condition. The giant in your life may take the form of envy and stiff opposition from colleagues, friends or family members. In all these situations, God has a plan for you.

One thing I know about God is that He is a specialist in disgracing and destroying giants. My God is not a respecter of any giant regardless of the shape or form he may assume. I may not how He is going to treat the murderous Herod and the stubborn Pharaoh in your life. I may not know how God is going to handle the raging Saul and the bragging Goliath in your life, but I know how He is going to treat you. I know that He is going to send you a Jonathan.

Saul was desperate to terminate the life of David. First, he offered David his daughter Michal in marriage but with a deadly dowry to pay. What a dowry? The foreskins of one hundred Philistine men! He thought David would be killed before could carry out the assignment. But David exceeded the demand of Saul. He brought two hundred Philistines foreskins to the palace. It was a big disappointment to Saul who had hoped that one Philistine was enough to snuff life out of David. (I Sam. 18: 25-27)

Saul did not give up. He ordered his servants and Jonathan, his son to kill David but they refused. (I Sam. 19:1) He tried to pin David against the wall with his javelin but he missed. (I Sam. 19:10). He also sent his messengers to David's house to kill him but his wife Michal, lowered him through a window. But the real window of escape for David was through Prince Jonathan, the apparent heir to the throne. It was Jonathan who came to David and said, "My father seeks to kill you. Therefore please be on your guard until morning, and stay in a secret place and hide." (I Sam.19:2)

From the most unexpected quarters, the Lord will send you a Jonathan who will be a window of escape for you. Now, I begin to prophesy to your situation that the Lord will put your love in the heart of a Jonathan who will continually provide you with divine classified information that will lead to your victory and escape. The Lord will send you a Jonathan who will give you his own robe. The Lord will send you a Jonathan who will give you his armor and sword. The Lord will send you a Jonathan who will give you his bow and belt. (I Sam. 18:3-4) Concerning the raging Saul in your life, let God handle him.
