Why Would Anyone Be Happy in Sin? June 3, 2004 Friends, Romans 1:28-32 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity, whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only doe the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. I often wonder how people can just deny who God is and what He is capable of doing. As I was reading this passage, the point that Paul made was that as folks continue to do things contrary to God, He would grant them the mindset that whatever they could think to do, they would do. These verses seem to say that once God grants this way of thinking, then these acts are OK. They are not and as we read Romans 2, Paul spells out the consequences of these actions. The enemy uses this message to say that once God gives a person up to this mindset, that they should be happy and enjoy the moment. However, being "happy" in sin is fleeting. In Romans 2, Paul reminds us that these behaviors are inexcusable and God will judge accordingly. We cannot escape God's judgment. We must pray for ourselves and others, such that none of us fall into this condition. We know that "Happy is the man that hunger and thirst after righteousness, he shall be filled". Pray that God will wake up that hunger in all mankind and we can be happy in salvation. Be Encouraged Martin A. Rayner Have you visited www.Be4Christ.com lately?
